Adaptable Housing Strategy

Adaptable Housing requirements are modest improvements to accessibility and adaptability in residential buildings that make it easier for people to "remain in place" as they age, and experience illness or injury.

The purpose of the Agriculture and Food Security Plan (AFSP) is to provide the District with a coordinated approach for supporting agriculture and improving food security in Saanich over the next 10 to 15 years.

Asset Management Strategy (2023)

Saanich Council approved the Asset Management Strategy on July 10, 2023. Council’s Strategic Plan 2019-2023 highlights that asset management is critical to sustainable, effective service delivery, and directed staff to develop and implement the strategy.

The Craigflower Watershed Management Plan was developed to protect important components of the watershed.

CRD - Cycling Destination Wayfinding Guidelines (2014)

The Cycling Destination Wayfinding Guidelines were produced to assist municipalities within the Capital Regional District to prepare wayfinding signage plans for cyclists.

CRD - Regional Transportation Plan (2014)

The Capital Regional District (CRD) developed a Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) in response to Planning, Transportation and Protective Services Committee and CRD Board direction to investigate the establishment of a Regional Transportation Service

CRD - Origin Destination Survey Report (2017)

A report of the Origin Destination Survey conducted by the Capital Regional District (CRD) in 2017. The survey profiles residents' travel behaviour.

CRD - Pedestrian and Cycling Master Plan (2011)

The CRD Regional Pedestrian and Cycling Master Plan (PCMP) describes a strategic approach for achieving a significant shift in transportation throughout the region. The PCMP identifies guidelines, policies, and standards for providing universal pedestrian accessibility, bicycle and pedestrian trip enhancement facilities such as bicycle parking and integration with transit.

Cuthbert Holmes Master Plan (2015)

The Cuthbert Holmes Master Plan addresses issues in natural areas management, trails, recreation and safety. It identifies the need for improvements to existing infrastructure, recreational activities and wayfinding issues.

The Development Permit Area Guidelines lays out development permit area objectives and covers the means of protecting the natural environment.

Durrell Creek Watershed Management Plan (2000)

The Durrell Creek Watershed Management Plan encompasses a wide variety of interests within the Durrell Creek catchment

lands including agriculture, fish and wildlife habitat, ecology, recreation and existing land uses.

Garden Suite Guidelines (DRAFT, 2019)

The DRAFT Garden Suite Guidelines establish objectives for the form and character of intensive residential

development and facilitate the thoughtful integration of garden suites into established residential
neighbourhoods in a way that enhances livability and minimizes impacts on neighbouring properties.

Global Age Friendly Cities Plan (2008)

The Global Age Friendly Cities Plan recognizes that older people face increasing challenges and has includes over 60 recommendations developeed to ensure the future of Saanich is age-friendly.

Healthy Saanich Community Workshop Report (2013)

The Healthy Saanich Community Workshop Report captures the outcomes of discussions of over 100 Saanich citizens on issues that affect the community.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is an approach to pest management that employs a
combination of techniques to keep pest numbers low enough to prevent intolerable damage or
annoyance.

Invasive Species Management Strategy (2013)

The Invasive Species Management Strategy (ISMS) addresses invasive species management on public and private land, roles and responsibilities, priorities, actions, community stewardship, partnerships, and resources.

Official Community Plan

The Official Community Plan (OCP) is the District's primary guide for growth and change within our municipality.  In concert with other plans and policies, the OCP provides a flexible framework to advance initiatives toward ensuring that Saanich is a livable sustainable community.

Older Adult Strategy

The Older Adult Strategy is designed to respond to and anticipate the diverse needs of this changing demographic. With specific improvements planned for programs, parks and facilities we envision Saanich as a community where all adults can engage in meaningful social, cultural and recreational experiences.

The Population projections trends and capacity buildout analysis provides population projections and a contextual analysis for Saanich in relation to the region. The study provides an overview of commercial, industrial, residential and recreational land uses, and looks at economic sectors, and more specifically at Centers and Villages to provide projections based on a most likely scenario.

Prospect Lake - Tod Creek Action Plan

The Prospect Lake - Tod Creek Action Plan provides goals, objectives and strategies for land use within the watershed to protect and restore water quality.
