We want to keep you informed about roadwork, closures and other traffic delays that can affect travel within Saanich.

Road construction and closures listed below relate to larger current projects. Additional minor roadwork may occur without representation on this page.

 Some roads in Saanich are maintained by the provincial government. Please see Additional Resources below for roadwork taking place within Saanich that is managed by external organizations.

Water Main Installation

Area: Elk Lake Drive between Marsett Place and the Patricia Bay Highway and Cherry Tree Bend

Impacts: Single Lane Alternating Traffic

  • All vehicles will have access.
  • There will be signs and traffic control on site to assist with traffic. Please obey their directions and all traffic signs.

Expected Schedule: Monday, June 8, to Monday, November 30, 2026;

9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Road Construction

Area: Richmond Road between Kings Road and Newton Street

Impacts: Single Lane Alternating Traffic

  • Pedestrians and cyclists will be directed to alternate crosswalk or sidewalk; Kings Road will be closed at Richmond Road, and Newton Street crosswalk will be closed. Please follow signs and Traffic Control Person (TCP) direction for detours.
  • Bus stops in the area may be clsoed. Check with BC Transit for updates.
  • All driveway access will be maintaned unless otherwise notified.
  • There will be signs and traffic control on site to assist with traffic. Please obey their directions and all traffic signs.

Expected Schedule: Wednesday, June 17, 2026 and onward;

9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Water Main Upgrade

Area: Rutledge Street between Scotia Street and Tolmie Avenue

Impacts: Road Closure **Extended**

  • Emergency vehicles will have access.
  • Local traffic will have access.
  • There will be signs and traffic control on site to assist with traffic. Please obey their directions and all traffic signs.

Expected Schedule: Tuesday, July 7, to Friday, September 11, 2026;

8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Area: Seaton Street between Carey Road and Crease Avenue

Impacts: Road Closure

  • Emergency vehicles will have access.
  • Local traffic will have access.
  • There will be signs on site to assist with traffic. Please obey all traffic signs.
