Celebrating BC Heritage Week - Help Saanich Archives 'Stir the Pot'!
This year's theme, Stir the Pot, celebrates food as a form of heritage that connects us to land, culture, our ancestors, memory, and community. Food reflects who we are and where we come from. As we prepare to recognize Saanich heritage this year with a new exhibit on the second floor of Municipal Hall (beside the elevators) and some interesting features on District of Saanich social media, we are asking for your help, too!
We would like to create a Community Cookbook - a collection of recipes submitted by you, our community, which we will combine with some recipes from the archives, to create a digital cookbook. The Community Cookbook will be 'published' on the Saanich Archives website and we invite community members to access it there.
Please feel free to submit a recipe of your choice - a family recipe, one of your own creation, or maybe your favourite one - to us at Saanich Archives either in person or by email to archives@saanich.ca no later than February 12, 2026.
Recipes will be published anonymously, unless otherwise specified. Credit will be given with first name and last initial. If you would like to be credited for your recipe in a specific way, such as first initial and last name, please let us know when you submit your recipe.
This collection of personal information is authorized under the Local Government Act, Community Charter and section 26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The information will be used for the Archives BC Heritage Week Community Cookbook. Please note that the BC Heritage Week Community Cookbook will be a complimentary public offering published to the Saanich Archives website. Recipe authors will be listed as "Saanich resident" unless otherwise specified.
