About the Archives

 

Saanich Archives has a reference room for in-person research. We also welcome inquiries by phone or email.  Contact us at archives@saanich.ca , or call 250-475-5494 ext.3478 for more information.

Location & Hours

You'll find us inside the Saanich Centennial Library, which is next to Pearkes Recreation Centre at 3100 Tillicum Road. Once inside the library, look for the Saanich Archives sign.

We are wheelchair accessible.

Free parking next to Pearkes Recreation Centre.

Open to researchers Monday to Friday, between 10:00 am and  2:30 p.m.

  • resident and subject files
  • copies of maps
  • directories
  • changing exhibits

We are here to answer questions and help with your research.

Search finding aids for access to the original archival records, which are stored on-site in a climate controlled vault. Explore our collections and research guides ahead of time to get the most out of your visit.

Please note that we don’t allow food or drink in the Archives.

Researchers are welcome to use cameras (some restrictions apply).

Donating to Saanich Archives

We gratefully accept donations relating to the history of the District of Saanich. We’re interested in:

  • photographs and albums
  • correspondence, diaries and other family documents
  • maps and plans
  • financial and legal records
  • records of Saanich businesses and organizations

We encourage donations of historical material from members of underrepresented communities.

Please call or email in advance to discuss your items and how they might fit within our collection.
