Outdoor tennis courts

Enjoy playing at one of our over 20 outdoor tennis court locations.

Tennis play is permitted only between 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at outdoor courts, unless otherwise noted.

Viewmont tennis court (#14)

Note: Viewmont Tennis Courts are currently closed due to construction to update, repave and resurface the courts.

To help reduce the impact on the Saanich Tennis Club for the duration of the Viewmont Courts’ construction, its members will have exclusive use of the tennis courts at Copley West Park during the following times:

  • Wednesdays: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Thursdays: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 9 to 10:30 a.m.

 Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time.

Public hours for Viewmont tennis courts
Both Saanich Tennis Club members and the public can use the courts at these times:

  • Tuesdays: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. 
  • Wednesdays: 5 to 9 p.m.
  • Fridays: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 2 to 6 p.m.

Prospect Lake Park tennis courts (#18)

Outdoor pickleball courts

Enjoy playing at one of six different outdoor court locations featuring a total of 12 shared and two dedicated courts.

Pickleball play is permitted only between 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily at outdoor courts, unless otherwise noted.

We’ve lined nine of our tennis courts for pickleball in the following five parks (number matches location on map):

These two parks have dedicated pickleball courts:

  • #9 – McMinn Park [PDF - 205 KB] (2 dedicated courts) 
  • #21 – Tolmie Park [PDF - 129 KB] (2 dedicated courts and 2 shared courts)
    • The courts at Tolmie Park are only open as per the below schedule:
      • Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
      • Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
      • Closed Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday

Pickleball strategy

Pickleball is an important recreational activity for residents. To respond effectively to its growth, Saanich partnered with other local municipalities to develop the Pickleball Strategy for Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay and Esquimalt. Indoor pickleball courts

Saanich offers indoor pickleball at G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre, Cedar Hill Recreation Centre and Saanich Commonwealth Place. See schedules and learn more here. 

Outdoor court courtesy for tennis and pickleball

Please respect other players, park users and our neighbours by following these guidelines:

  • All courts are open on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • Limited bookings are for priority use only by Saanich programs, public schools within Saanich and special events (with approved park permit).
    • Please see signs posted for any reserved times.
  • Unless otherwise posted, tennis court use is available between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. and pickleball court use is available between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Limit play to 30 minutes or one set if others are waiting.
  • Team up and play doubles where possible.
  • No pickleball play on courts without pickleball lines.
  • Use courts for racquet sports only.
    • No pets, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, hockey or other play to occur in courts.
  • Keep conversations appropriate to a public park with low volume.
