Run for office in Saanich

To run in the election, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older on general election day
  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Have lived in BC for at least 6 months before the day you file your nomination papers
  • Not be disqualified by law from being nominated, elected, or holding office

Important Candidate Dates

📋Nomination Period Opens: Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026 at 9 a.m.

📋Nomination Period Closes: Friday, Sept. 11, 2026 at 4 p.m.

Saanich’s next municipal election is on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Voters will elect:
  • 1 mayor
  • 8 councillors 
  • 4 CRD Directors
  • 2 School Trustees for SD61 and SD63 (depending on where you live)
