Quadra McKenzie Study Engagement Opportunities

Saanich, BC
– A series of public engagement opportunities for the Quadra McKenzie Study (QMS), such as pop-ups and surveys, will be available to Saanich residents this summer.

The study, one of the first of the District’s Centre, Corridor and Village plans, covers an area that includes many important regional and local destinations. It is framed by the McKenzie and Quadra Corridors that connect communities with important travel routes.

The QMS will result in a plan to promote sustainable land use and accommodate new housing and employment growth within well-designed Centres, Corridors and Villages. Over time, we will see the plan shape the homes we build, the roads we travel on, the parks we play in, and the neighbourhoods we live in.

Public engagement opportunities

The first opportunity for public engagement will be in July and August. This phase of engagement is focused on receiving input on challenges, opportunities and goal statements.

Join us at the following pop-ups to learn more about the QMS, speak to a planner and share your ideas:

An online survey seeks input on land use, transportation and mobility, housing diversity, and open space.

An online mapping tool seeks feedback on the places you love, and the places that could use some love.

Next Steps

In the fall, we will be hosting a series of interactive community workshops as well as an online survey. The plan will be developed over four phases, with opportunities for public engagement at each phase. Next summer, the draft plan will be presented to the public for review and another round of engagement. The draft plan will be presented to Council in the winter of 2024.

Engaging with the community and integrating local input during plan development is key to creating a plan that responds to community needs. We hope you are able to share your perspective!
