Description:

The District of Saanich's Parks, Recreation and Community Services department is seeking  team players to help drive our mission of Healthy Nature, Healthy People, and Healthy Community, while supporting our vision: a Saanich where everyone belongs. You’ll work within a team where service excellence, learning and knowledge sharing, and feedback and accountability are highly valued, and where communication, trust, respect, and positivity form the foundation for everything we do.

The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, Recreation Division, is seeking enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join the team at Saanich Commonwealth Place Recreation Centre as Aquatic Fun Leaders. We are looking for individuals who enjoy working with the public, thrive in a dynamic aquatic environment, and are passionate about creating safe, engaging, and memorable recreation experiences for participants of all ages.

As an Aquatic Fun Leader, you will plan, assist with, and lead a variety of aquatic activities, games, and special events, including themed swims, aquatic features, and pool birthday parties. You will be responsible for the safe operation, setup, and takedown of aquatic equipment such as waterslides, rope swings, inflatables, and climbing features. This role also involves monitoring pool deck safety, providing excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and safe aquatic environment, and supporting a fun and welcoming atmosphere for all patrons.

Requirements include a minimum age of 14 years; Bronze Medallion certification; and the ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, afternoons, and evenings. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Employment is subject to the provision of a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) dated within the last six months, with renewal required as per policy.

Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts on weekends, afternoons and evenings (hours/shifts are subject to change). Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.
