Saanich garbage pickup resumed plus drop-off available Saturday

February 13, 2019

Garbage and organics collection has resumed; special drop-of available Saturday

Garbage collection crews have been able to safely access about 90% of the week's scheduled routes. For the remaining 10% of streets that could not be accessed, we're still planning to attempt collection either Friday or Monday, subject to weather. These areas are typically at the top of a hill or on particularly challenging roads. If you're a resident in one of these areas please keep your carts out so we can collect them.

Approximately 50% of residents did not have their carts out in the areas that we were able to access.

There are two options for residents who did not have their carts out:

  1. A refuse collection station will be set up at the yard and garden drop-off site at Public Works on Saturday, February 16 from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. Up to 2 garbage bags will be accepted with proof of residency.
  2. Curbside collection will be provided on your next scheduled collection day.

Residents are encouraged to sign up to our Recollect notification sytem if they haven't already. Messages can be sent via email, phone or Twitter.

We will also post updates on twitter.com/saanich and facebook.com/saanich.bc

Thank you for your patience!
