Saanich, BC - Saanich is looking for youth to fill a variety of summer camp leader positions. This annual call out gives young people aged 16 and older a chance to put their talents to use while working in a high-energy and dynamic environment.

For young people new to the working world, these positions offer more than just a paycheque. They learn valuable skills, make connections and work with kids in a positive environment.

“We see this as not just an opportunity to help train our youth for the job at hand, but to mentor and prepare them for future opportunities,” said Recreation Senior Manager Kelli-Ann Armstrong. “We like to capitalize on our staff’s individual strengths to set them up for a successful and rewarding summer.”

Saanich normally employs several camp leaders during the year, but needs more than 50 extra staff to help out during the busy summer season. Camp themes run the gamut of the classics, like archery and wilderness training, to the contemporary, like permaculture and leadership development.

Many student staff lead camps year after year and some have carried on to full-time work with Saanich.

The deadline to apply for a summer camp leader position is February 23, 2018. More information about Saanich career opportunities is available at Saanich.ca.
