An Exhibition of Paintings by Maggie Wilson

Opening Reception:
Friday, August 5, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

The choice to relocate to Victoria was an easy one for Maggie Wilson, desiring as she did to be by the ocean and ultimately paint the stunning scenery that the island offers.

Many paintings were inspired close to home around Saxe Point and Macaulay Point. And then further afield in Qualicum, Parksville, Uclulelet, Tofino, and now more of the west coast beaches. There are no two days the same which is what she loves to discover upon each visit.

About the Artist

Maggie Wilson is a contemporary realist painter who emigrated to Canada from England in the early 1970’s as a fashion designer and later a prop master in film. In 2003 she relocated to Victoria,

Maggie was juried into active membership with The Federation of Canadian Artists in 2018, and has had several works on display at the Federation Gallery on Granville Island. She has exhibited at the Sooke Fine Art Show in 2019 and online in 2020, successfully selling works both years, and since last year has been busy producing new floral works, seascapes, and currently a series of landscape vignettes of places in and around Esquimalt.
Several of her works are currently on exhibit at Coast Capital Savings on Sherbourne St in Victoria.

Maggie brings her experience in design to inform her work in acrylics, with a sensitivity to line, space, colour and form. On canvas it is the slow build of layers and fine lines that create the realistic images she produces.
