Welcome to the new online blasting permit application process!

The blasting permit process has been optimized through a new digital submission portal.  This eliminates paper-based applications, making processes more convenient, reliable and efficient.

Any blasting work conducted in Saanich requires a blasting permit. Blasting is a heavily regulated industry governed by WorkSafeBC. Only a certified blaster may apply for a blasting permit.

What is required?

• A MySaanich account is required to complete an application, upload documents, pay application fees, book inspections, view your application status and more!
• Proof of Insurance by your Insurance Agent, indicating $5,000,000 liability coverage.
• A valid Saanich Business Licence.
• A copy of the written notice delivered to all property owners and businesses within 100 m of the blast zone.

• An approved Building Permit or an approved Engineering Servicing Drawing must be in place prior to applying for a Blasting Permit.
