The Purchasing Division – Stores provides centralized warehousing and distribution services for municipal departments. We are looking for a motivated individual who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a team environment, and is committed to maintaining high safety and service standards. This position provides short-term relief for Stores staff during staffing interruptions and supports continuous improvement initiatives and year-end inventory activities.

Under the direction of the Stores Supervisor, the Stockperson performs manual and operational tasks related to receiving, storing, issuing, and organizing materials, tools, and supplies. Responsibilities include loading and unloading municipal vehicles and delivery trucks using equipment such as forklifts and front-end loaders; assisting with inventory control and stock taking; maintaining the cleanliness and organization of warehouse and outdoor storage areas; and providing professional, high-quality customer service to internal clients. The position requires adherence to municipal and WorkSafeBC safety standards and involves working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Requirements include Grade 11 plus an additional program of over one year full-time, or Grade 12 or equivalent; three months’ experience in retail or commercial customer service and/or warehousing, inventory control, or construction; and the ability to obtain Forklift Operator and Front-End Loader Operator certifications. The successful candidate must demonstrate physical capability to perform manual labour and operate equipment safely. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will work varying hours, consisting of partial or full days, Monday through Friday, up to 8 hours per day between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. As a component of the selection process, testing may be conducted.
