The Real Estate Services Division is seeking a knowledgeable and results-oriented Property Administrator to manage a diverse portfolio of municipally owned residential and commercial properties, as well as telecommunication facilities. This role plays a key part in supporting the effective stewardship of municipal real estate assets and providing professional expertise in property management, valuation, and real estate transactions.
Reporting to the Manager – Real Estate Services, the Property Administrator is responsible for administering municipal properties, conducting site visits, coordinating and reviewing property-related reports, and supporting acquisitions, dispositions, leases, licences, and rights-of-way. The position provides analysis of appraisals, market conditions, and feasibility studies, assists with property owner and stakeholder negotiations, drafts reports to Council, and liaises with internal departments and external partners. The role also provides technical direction to administrative staff, supports budgeting and accounting functions, and contributes to the overall strategic management of municipal real estate assets.
Requirements include a two-year diploma in Legal, or Urban Land Economics (DULE), with Certified Property Management (CPM) or appraisal-related education considered an asset. A minimum of six years of experience in property management in a confidential environment is required, including experience dealing with the public. Strong knowledge of real estate practices, property valuation, and applicable legislation such as the Residential Tenancy Act, Commercial Tenancy Act, Community Charter, and Local Government Act considered assets. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office and related systems, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and be eligible to act as a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits in British Columbia. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and access to a personal vehicle are required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (7 hours per day, 35 hours per week), with variation of work hours, flex days, and part-time work from home available. Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.
