The District of Saanich's Parks, Recreation and Community Services department is seeking a team player to help drive our mission of Healthy Nature, Healthy People, and Healthy Community, while supporting our vision: a Saanich where everyone belongs. You’ll work within a team where service excellence, learning and knowledge sharing, and feedback and accountability are highly valued, and where communication, trust, respect, and positivity form the foundation for everything we do.

The Community Services Division – Events is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Program Attendant II staff to support event activities at the Saanich Strawberry Festival, Saanich’s signature summer festival.

Under the direction of a Recreation Programmer or Program Technician, Program Attendant II staff will support a variety of event-related tasks including event prep and loading, helping to set up the event zone and parking areas, working at event booths during the day such as the info booth or the strawberry tent, and helping to tear down the event at the end of the day. The majority of work will take place on event day in a dynamic, fast-paced outdoor setting, with additional limited hours available in advance of the event for training and set up.

Requirements include completion of Grade 10; a minimum of one month of related experience in a recreational event, or customer service setting; and the ability to work effectively in a team environment while providing excellent customer service. Preference may be given to candidates with demonstrated event experience.

The successful candidate will be required to attend a short training shift on Thursday, July 2. and the event day on Sunday, July 5. A variety of 6–8-hour event day shifts are available between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. Limited additional prep shifts are available on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4.

Hours and schedules are subject to change based on program needs. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. While we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.
