The Parks Division is currently seeking a Parks Worker II to join our Parks Construction team. This position performs a broad range of manual, technical, and operational work supporting the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of park infrastructure. Key duties include carpentry and landscape construction; maintaining playgrounds; building park structures (e.g., stairs, pergolas); and installing and maintaining park assets such as signs, benches, parking lots, drainage systems, trails, and related features. The role requires reading and interpreting plans, schematics, and construction drawings, and assisting with project layout in the field. It also includes inspecting park infrastructure and maintaining accurate work records in both electronic and manual formats. The position may involve providing directions to other staff. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership and teamwork, strong practical skills, a commitment to safety, and a solid work ethic in a physically demanding, outdoor work environment.
Requirements include: completion of Grade 12 or equivalent; one year of experience relevant to landscape construction; three or more accredited courses in Landscape Construction, Carpentry or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution; and a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
