Description:

Do you have a passion for working outdoors?  The District of Saanich, the largest municipality on Vancouver Island, has a diverse parks system with over 170 parks and natural areas and over 100 kms of trails. The Parks Division is seeking a temporary full-time Parks Worker in the Urban Forestry section. The Parks Worker I will perform activities such as tree watering, pruning, weeding, mulching and integrated pest management.

Requirements include: Grade 12 or equivalent; one accredited course related to the work common to the Parks Division from a recognized post-secondary institution; six months recent previous experience in the works of a Parks Division; B.C. Pesticide Applicator’s Certificate; valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence and a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector check (PIC-VS). Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

IMPORTANT: Applicants MUST HAVE a B.C. Pesticide Applicator’s Certificate for this position, in either the Landscape category or the Industrial Vegetation and Noxious Weed category. 

The successful candidate will work Monday, Thursday, Friday, 12pm to 8:30pm, Saturday, Sunday 8am to 4:30pm.
