Parks, Recreation and Community Services is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Instructor III – Tennis to join the Recreation Division at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre. This position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about tennis instruction and enjoys creating engaging, safe, and inclusive learning experiences for participants of all ages and abilities. The Instructor III provides leadership in the planning, delivery, and overall management of tennis programs while fostering a welcoming and positive environment for participants.
Under the general direction of a Recreation Programmer or Program Technician, the Instructor III is responsible for providing direct instruction and leadership for tennis programs. Responsibilities include preparing course outlines and lesson plans, setting up equipment and courts, delivering high-quality instruction, monitoring participant progress, maintaining attendance records, ensuring equipment is safely stored, attending in-service training, and maintaining a safe and organized program environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service, effective communication skills, and the ability to lead engaging, well-organized programs.
Requirements include completion of Grade 10, a minimum of three months' experience in tennis instruction, and Tennis Canada certification appropriate for the Instructor III level (or equivalent industry-recognized certification). Current Emergency First Aid and CPR-C certification is required, and employment is subject to a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) dated within the last six months. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. If shortlisted, applicants will be required to provide proof of education and certifications at the time of interview.
