Description:

The Recreation Division is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Instructor Is to coach Volleyball at Gordon Head Middle School. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and youth and are passionate about creating fun, safe, and inclusive recreation experiences.

Under the general direction of a Recreation Programmer or Program Technician, the Instructor I provides direct instruction and leadership for volleyball programs. Responsibilities include preparing equipment and activity spaces, delivering lessons, welcoming participants, maintaining attendance records, and ensuring a safe and positive environment for all participants. The Instructor also supports general program delivery by maintaining equipment, following facility procedures, and contributing to a high standard of customer service and participant experience.

Requirements include completion of Grade 10 and a minimum of three months’ experience in a related instructional or recreational setting. Emergency First Aid and CPR-C are required, and employment is subject to a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) dated within the last six months. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to deliver instruction in a safe, organized, and engaging manner. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Please note: If shortlisted, applicants must provide proof of the completion of Grade 10 and current Emergency First Aid and CPR-C at time of interview.
