This posting is a joint recruitment effort between the City of Victoria, the Township of Esquimalt, the District of Oak Bay and the District of Saanich. The Four-Core Fire Departments are working together to recruit qualified and motivated individuals to join our professional firefighting teams. All departments provide comprehensive emergency services, including fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials response, and medical aid.
Applications are now being accepted for future recruit Fire Fighter positions. Selected candidates will be placed in an eligibility pool for future positions with Saanich Fire. Applicants must be in good health, be able to meet established medical and academic standards, qualify in essential job function and aptitude tests, and have demonstrated the ability to work in a team environment.
Minimum requirements:
- Firefighter Level 1 and 2 certification that meets the NFPA 1010 standard and is accredited by either IFSAC or Pro Board
- Valid certificate from a recognized training program in one of the following licenses: First Responder, Emergency Medical Responder, Primary Care Paramedic, Advanced Care Paramedic, Critical Care Paramedic
- Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residence
- Proof of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid British Columbia Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement or equivalent
- A current driver’s abstract reflective of a safe and responsible driving history
- Successful completion of the University of Victoria or University of Alberta Fitness Test within one year of the job posting.
