The Water Resources Division is seeking a highly skilled and solutions-focused Engineering GIS Coordinator to lead the ongoing development, maintenance and expansion of GIS data and services for the Engineering Department. This position plays a key role in supporting corporate asset management, ensuring data integrity, and providing excellent customer service to a growing number of departmental users.
The Engineering GIS Coordinator supervises a small technical team and oversees the design, development, and optimization of GIS datasets, web maps, dashboards, and analytics. Responsibilities include coordinating GIS projects from planning through implementation; providing user support and training; managing system integration with other engineering applications; and fostering partnerships with the Corporate GIS Services team and external stakeholders to advance GIS practices. The successful candidate will bring a strategic mindset, a collaborative approach, and the ability to translate technical expertise into practical solutions that enhance service delivery.
The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of GIS principles, standards, and methods; be proficient with desktop, mobile and web GIS applications; GIS data compilation, versioned editing, and quality control.
Requirements include: A Degree in Geography, Computer Science, or related discipline with an emphasis on Geographical Information Systems; six years of GIS experience including one year in a supervisory role; extensive GIS project management experience; and expert knowledge of the Esri ArcGIS suite of products. Proficiency with relational database design, GIS customization using Arcade and Python, and functional knowledge of MS Power BI are required. Experience in a municipal setting and GIS professional certification are considered assets. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
