Description:

Our Engineering and Parks, Recreation and Community Services departments work together to support a wide range of civic buildings and recreation facilities that serve residents every day.

The Municipal Facilities Division is seeking a Building Service Worker I to join our team. Reporting to the Building Service Worker I Supervisor, you will perform custodial care, cleaning, and daily maintenance of municipal buildings and recreation facilities. This hands-on role includes event and program set-up and take-down, floor care, washroom and changeroom cleaning, minor building and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, building security, and assisting with the training of seasonal and auxiliary staff.

The ideal candidate has a Grade 11 education or equivalent, a Building Service Worker Level 2 certificate, and hard floor and carpet care certification. Candidates must have at least three months of related experience, a valid WHMIS certification (within one year), and the ability to perform physically demanding work in a variety of municipal and recreation settings. Occupational First Aid Level I and Ice Facility Operators (IFO) certification may be required depending on the assignment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Employment is subject to a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector screening (PIC-VS), where required.

This is a permanent full-time assignment for every day of the week, including evenings, weekends, and afternoon shifts. Only those under consideration will be contacted.
