Invitation to Quotation:  For “Q 07/20 - Supply and Deliver Hanging Moss Baskets”.  The  Quotation document has now been posted on BC Bid website: https://www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca/open.dll/welcome?language=En, Solicitation Number: Q 07/20, or by contacting Purchasing Services at 250-475-5494, local 3481.

 

Scope of Work:   

a)   The Contractor shall supply (4)-20" Moss Hanging Baskets with hangers.  The District will supply the black wire hardware for (42) hanging baskets with the dimensions 18" top diameter, 13" deep and 14" diameter base. (A sample of this hardware is available for viewing at 1040 McKenzie Avenue, Parks Division Administration).  

b)   The Contractor shall supply the required wire basket frames, moss, growing media, fertilizer and all labour, materials, greenhouse and physical space required to construct, maintain, move and ‘harden off’ the baskets prior to delivery to the following locations:

 - Saanich Commonwealth Place 4636 Elk Lake Dr, Victoria, BC, V8Z 7K2

- Cedar Hill Recreation Centre 3220 Cedar Hill Rd, Victoria, BC V8P 3Y3

- Saanich Municipal Hall 770 Vernon Ave, Victoria, BC V8X 2W7

 - Saanich Parks and Public Works 1040 McKenzie Ave, Victoria, BC V8P 2L4

c)   At construction and acceptance all plant material in the baskets shall be high quality and in a vigorous growing state, free of all known pests and diseases, physical damage, true to name, type, number and size. No plant substitutions will be accepted without the prior written approval of the Parks Operation Manager, Saanich Parks Division.

d)   The Moss Hanging Baskets will be in a weed free condition and containing no weed seeds that will germinate during the growing season.

e)   The Contractor shall provide a wire basket frame that will support the weight of the complete hanging basket, and vegetative growth saturated with water through October 2020.

f)    Each basket will have a solid moss layer with no holes and of a sufficient thickness throughout the basket to retain the growing media until October 2020.

g)   Each plant must be planted through the moss layer such that the root ball is planted in the growing media and the stem of the plant is surrounded only by moss.

h)   The Hanging Basket growing media shall be free of pockets or voids through erosion or settling.

i)    The Contractor shall be required to correct all deficiencies, within two (2) business days, to the satisfaction of the Parks Operations Manager, Saanich Parks Division.

j)    The preferred contractor shall be selected though an evaluation process outlined in Submission and Evaluation.
