Saanich, BC – Pickleball plans are about to get a little less, well, pickled! The District of Saanich will be piloting a reservation system for four of its six new pickleball courts at Fowler Park in Cordova Bay, helping enthusiasts plan their play and make the most of their court time.

A first look at some of the freshly surfaced pickleball courts, as work continues to progress at Fowler Park in Cordova Bay. The new court hub opens for public play on September 15, 2026.

From September 15 through October 31, 2026, prospective pickleball players can reserve court time in 1-hour or 2-hour increments through Saanich RecOnline at saanich.ca/register, 7 days in advance of the day of play. Four courts will be reservable, and two courts will remain first-come, first-served to allow for casual, drop-in access. Reservation fees are $10.50 per hour (tax included). All courts revert to first-come, first-served when there are no reservations at a given time. A new, dedicated tennis court will also operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

The six new pickleball courts and new tennis court expand outdoor recreation opportunities for Saanich residents – allowing them to get outside, stay active and connect with others. Additional improvements to the park are still being made, and visitors’ patience is appreciated as final landscaping, irrigation and amenity installation work is completed.

The Fowler Park Improvements Project and new Fowler Park Pickleball Court Reservation Pilot are part of Saanich's response to the Pickleball Strategy for Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay and Esquimalt, 2024, which provided guidance on managing the growth of this popular sport. The District also conducted multiple rounds of public engagement between 2021-2023 specifically to help inform the Fowler Park Improvements Project.
