Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich is creating another way for residents to engage and become informed about service updates, Council initiatives and more with the launch of a new community and corporate focused Instagram account.

Followers of @Saanich.BC will receive updates on Council news, department initiatives, traffic advisories, Greener Garbage service updates, public events, and reminders to participate in community conversations through HelloSaanich.

This new account provides a convenient way for residents to stay informed about current news, engage about local programs and access information about municipal services.

Why now?

Joining Instagram aligns with the District’s commitment to transparency, responsiveness and serving residents with accessible, timely information.

It provides another practical way to meet residents where they are, share updates in formats that are easy to access and understand, and initiate community conversations.

This newly created account complements the established Saanich Parks, Recreation & Community Services Instagram account (@saanparksreccoms) that shares recreation activities and programs, recreation centre information, park updates and community events.

Monitoring
District social media accounts are monitored during business hours 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. In the event of an immediate emergency, please call 9-1-1. For after-hours Parks or Public Works emergencies that do not require 9-1-1 assistance, please call (250) 475-5599.
