Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich is shining a light on public works and parks crews and inviting visitors on-site to learn more about the important role their work plays in the daily lives of all Saanich residents.

Staff will tour visitors through the Saanich Operations Centre on Thursday, May 21 from 1 to 3 p.m., as part of Saanich’s recognition of National Public Works Week (May 17 to 23).

From waterworks to street operations, parks to solid waste services, each station will offer visitors the opportunity to learn and ask questions and gain a new understanding for how some of the District’s less visible services operate and support everyday life for Saanich residents.

“National Public Works Week is an important time for us to acknowledge and celebrate the great work of everyone who contributes to the smooth operation of our District,” says District of Saanich Mayor Dean Murdock. “So often that smooth operation means their efforts go unnoticed. This week is an opportunity to showcase their excellent work and highlight the service our crews and teams provide to residents in Saanich.”
