Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich is providing an update on the extended closure of the weight room at Gordon Head Recreation Centre (GHRC).

The project has been progressing through the winter, and crews remain dedicated to completing the expanded scope of work as efficiently as possible. Replacement of the weight room roof is advancing, and interior reconstruction and finishing work is moving along. The District is anticipating a late April reopening and will provide an update in March once critical milestones are reached. Please stay tuned to the website and the HelloSaanich project page for more details as they become available.

A reminder to our valued patrons that Saanich’s three other weight rooms at Saanich Commonwealth Place and Cedar Hill and G.R. Pearkes recreation centres remain available for use. The closure at GHRC affects the weight room only – programs that use the aquatic areas, auditorium, dance studio, multipurpose room, and fitness annex facilities are not affected.

The District thanks patrons for their continued patience throughout this complex project and looks forward to welcoming you back to a fresh, updated space in the spring!
