Closure of Churchill Drive parking lot at PKOLS (Mount Douglas Park) – May 7, 2026

For immediate release 

Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich’s contractor will be undertaking a planned crane relocation at PKOLS (Mount Douglas Park) on May 7, 2026. To ensure public safety, the parking lot at the base of Churchill Drive will be closed for the day. Pedestrians will have to use caution around the area due to large equipment being transported from the summit to the base. There may also be trail closures at the summit.

The area will be monitored, to ensure we can maintain a safe work space for staff and to ensure the public’s safety while the work is in progress.

The closures are necessary so that the District’s contractor can continue installation operations for the telecommunications tower replacement project.
