Road closure update for Burnside Road West for road improvements

The District of Saanich asphalt repaving project on Burnside Road West from Charlton Road to 1950 Burnside Road West will be moving into Phase 2 next week.

Due to the nature of the work and the existing road conditions, Burnside Road West will continue to be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. Construction will be completed in September 2022.

Project work includes:

  • regrading and repaving the road;
  • adding a paved shoulder to both travel lanes;
  • replacing a roadside barrier; and
  • adding additional signage.

Construction phasing

Phase 1 of the project extended from 1950 Burnside Road West to the intersection at Prospect Lake Road. Phase 1 will be opening to vehicle traffic on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.  Phase 2 of the project extends from the intersection at Prospect Lake Road to 1720 Burnside Road West (east of Charlton Road). Phase 2 of the project will be starting on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, and Burnside Road West will be closed to vehicle traffic from Prospect Lake Road to Charlton Road. Prospect Lake Road will be accessible via the 1800 block of Burnside Road West (south approach). Charlton Road will be available via Granville Avenue.

Traffic delays in the area are expected throughout the duration of the project; please plan your route accordingly.
