Saanich, BC – Starting today, the District of Saanich undertakes a three-week public education campaign aimed at informing the public about the role of the district’s municipal facilities in the delivery of services and programs. A long-term plan is being developed to ensure that Saanich can meet service delivery targets effectively, while recognizing changing resident needs and regional growth.

The Strategic Facilities Master Plan will provide a framework for how Saanich will invest in its facilities in the coming years. The twenty-year plan will be comprised of information about the condition, capacity and risks at Saanich’s significant facilities, and will identify key priorities.

“Just as homeowners need to maintain their properties to protect their investment, we need to do the same as a municipality,” said Paul Thorkelsson, Chief Administrative Officer. “That’s why Saanich is developing a framework – which will be provided to the public - with information about maintaining and improving our buildings in order to meet our community’s evolving needs. Municipal buildings belong to the community, so we want everyone to be part of this conversation.”
