On Friday, May 22, from 10 am to 2:30 pm join Saanich Parks and biodiversity partners in the 2026 Saanich Biodiversity Day for a fun, hands-on celebration of the incredible life that thrives right here in our community!
Location:
Walk, bike, bus, or drive to G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre and start off at main trail entrance (near Silvercity Cinema)
All activities are ongoing throughout the day, along with a self-guided loop walk
- Learn about local plants and animals, with a special focus on salmon and pollinators
- Explore the Colquitz watershed model and see how water connects our neighbourhoods to the ocean
- Lend a helping hand at an active restoration site and make an immediate difference
Bring your curiosity (and your walking shoes) and come be part of caring for the ecosystems that sustain us.
Gratefully presented in partnership with the SD61 Indigenous Education Department, Peninsula Streams Society, Habitat Acquisition Trust, and the Capital Regional District, this event is your chance to discover how you can play a role in supporting biodiversity in our community.
