Garden City Arts - Garth Homer Society
November 19, 2025 to January 12, 2026
About the Artwork / Artists:
This collaborative mosaic brings together artists from the Garth Homer Society (GHS) Artworks Project and community members. Created during the Paint the Town event at Market Square on May 28, 2025, the installation celebrates Red Shirt Day—a movement advocating for accessibility in public spaces.
The 68 individual canvases,
when assembled, symbolize a collective effort toward a more accessible and inclusive society, while highlighting ongoing social and structural challenges in community access and public space navigation. The exhibition sparks dialogue on belonging and showcases the creativity and contributions of artists with disabilities in Victoria.
Alongside the visual display,
the exhibition includes an audio description co-created by:
- The Lifestreams team
- Artworks Project specialists
- Community members

PhotoVoice – Victoria Women’s Transition House 50+ Program
November 19, 2025 to January 12, 2026
About the Artwork / Artists:
Photography is a powerful way to document life, tell stories, and share experiences through a lens. PhotoVoice is a unique exhibit born from an eight-week program that invited participants—women aged 50 and older who have experienced intimate partner violence—to explore their personal journeys through photography.
Over two eight-week sessions, participants were empowered to use the camera as a tool of self-expression, reflection, and healing. The theme, “What Does HOME Mean to You?”, encouraged each woman to explore the concept of home—physically, emotionally, and symbolically both individually and collectively.

The result is a powerful, moving collection of images and narratives that speak to resilience, identity, and the redefinition of what “home” can mean after violence. Each photograph is accompanied by a personal story, offering viewers a deeply human insight into the strength and creativity of these women.
Join us in witnessing these voices, told not just in words but through powerful visual storytelling.

Archives Awareness Week
November 12 to November 18, 2025
About the Artwork / Artists:
To celebrate Archives Awareness Week (November 16 – 22) this year, Saanich Archives will be installing a display entitled Memories and Milestones in the Archives. In this exhibit, institutional milestones, memories, and anniversaries from the Archives’ history (such as the founding of the Saanich Archives in 1978) will be highlighted with items from our holdings. We will also be featuring items that show the ways
in which Saanich Archives has been involved with commemorating anniversaries and milestones for the larger community of Saanich, including the opening of
the Saanich Centennial Branch of the Greater Victoria Public Library, where the Archives has been located since 2007. This short exhibit runs from November 12 to 18, 2025 and celebrates archives and the memories that we work to share with our community and preserve for future generations.
