Mezzanine Gallery Wall - Solo Exhibit

Carol Thibault
August 26 to October 14, 2025

About the Artwork:

Being creative is a simple strategy to disconnect from the stress, turmoil, violence and crises arising daily. My art form is about second chances, salvaging old artwork that has been discarded and is no longer wanted for whatever reason and reimagining new possibilities on the canvas in a whimsical way. Nature’s bounty of birds and flowers are my primary inspiration. Every walk I take I see birds of different species sharing what nature has to offer. They seem to have learned how to get along just fine and provide the essence for my whimsy.

About the Artist:

As a retired senior, I am blessed to have the time to create. My latest venture of collage is salvaging unwanted, damaged and unloved canvas prints and original artwork from thrift stores, flea markets, and garage sales and bringing them back to life in a whimsical and uplifting way.  I am inspired by nature’s bounty. All resources used in the collage come from recycled print materials; assorted costume jewelry and fabric ends.  The process of collecting, sorting, cutting and embellishing involves days and weeks.  My hope is that these collages will make someone smile, inspire a conversation with a stranger and live on in some other way and at some other time.

Mom Story
August 26 to October 14, 2025

About the Artwork / Artists:

This unique project showcases over 200 heartfelt stories written by mothers, gathered over the past three years through the MomStory Writing Project. The texts are printed in large and long white paper, hung from the ceiling, allowing viewers to wonder through, pause, and reflect. The texts that are ready are in Chinese but can also be translated to and printed out in English, and Arabic, and Spanish. It has been successfully held in Tianjin, China, where it resonated deeply with audiences by shedding light on motherhood through powerful narratives.
This project, a collaboration between GlobalMoms and HideOut, turned a community art space into a haven for reflection and interaction, fostering a unique reading and exhibition experience that sparks thought and resonance. Big thanks to all our volunteers from Beijing and Tinajin and co-curators.
