Hallway Case #2Garth Homer Artworks Program

May 27, 9:00am to June 21, 4:00 pm

About the Artwork / Artists:
ArtWorks is an artist development program for emerging and established artists. Participants engage in a supported studio environment where they can refine their artistic skills, experiment with different mediums, and exhibit their work.

Artists spend each day working on their art, experimenting with different mediums, and refining their techniques in a professional supported studio setting. The atmosphere is relaxed yet focused, allowing participants to work at their own pace while receiving hands-on support from staff who are skilled, practicing artists. These mentors provide guidance, demonstrations, and constructive feedback to help artists push their creative boundaries and bring their visions to life.  For 2026, the ArtWorks Program will be showcasing a variety of different art in this display case, in partnership with Saanich Community Services and Cedar Hill Recreation Centre.

Rear Window Case - Judy Woo: Letter to My Hood

May 27, 9:00am to July 19, 4:00 pm

About the Artwork:
This installation explores a dialogue between generations based on my childhood memories of growing up in Saanich. Rooted in both personal and collective histories, my work brings together poetry, connections, and space to reflect how inheritance is carried—not only through tradition, but through expression in contemporary visual art and poetry.

Drawing from intergenerational experiences, this installation layers my family’s voices that are often separated by spatial time, migration, and shifting identities. The poems function as multiple bridges and fractures: a means of translation across generations, and a reminder of what resists translation. Fragments of redacted text emerge, echoing the ways memory is preserved and transformed.

About the Artist:
Art has been a primary avenue for Judy’s self expression since childhood. She has experimented with many different types of media, using modern and traditional art practices. Often her art is expressed in abstract media, using repurposed or upcycled materials. She is particularly interested in finding alternative ways to create art and to explore hybrid artistic practices reflective of her Chinese-Canadian cultural background. Judy’s art practice includes painting, murals, collage, installations, photography, sculptures, as well as poetry and spoken word. Most recently, Judy has begun producing zines and chat books, in addition to her visual art and poetry.
