About the Artwork / Artists:
Erica Messing is a visual artist who has been creating acrylic and mixed media paintings for the past 15 years in her home city of Victoria, British Columbia. She is best known for her brightly coloured landscapes, her loose, expressionistic style that plays on both light and perspective, and more recently for the gold and other metal leaf illumination and decorative embellishments that enhance her work. Erica has participated a few years in the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s Moss Street Paint–In. She enjoys partnering with other artists to hold art shows and receptions such as the Imagineering Art Show at ArtSea community gallery in Sidney BC. She has a studio gallery at Bear Mountain where private collectors may see her work. Erica believes that art is a way of drawing people together, of finding common ground and providing a way of communicating emotion around shared experiences.
Lauren Fox lives on the traditional unceded territory of the Lkwungen people. Her art is an emotional and spiritual response to this place, a response to the qualities of light and atmosphere and the experience of transcendence or introspection they evoke. She works with dilute acrylics on paper or canvas, applying multiple layers of transparent colour to create the luminosity that is characteristic of her paintings. Lauren is largely self-taught. Her works are held in private collections in Canada and the US. They have been featured in juried shows in California and British Columbia, including the BC Festival of the Arts and the Federation of Canadian Artists.
