August 20, to September 15, 2025
Nature: Around us Within us
About the Artwork:
We treasure our parks and community space: places to be with nature, to gather with others, or to be alone. These are places of rejuvenation, reflection and communion. We go to paint plein air, to deeply observe these spaces. Our response is to create art that represents an impression of our time there. Connection to the environment and engaging other people who visit these shared spaces enriches our experiences. There is an amazing variety of landscapes and ecosystems within and around our communities. These places spark our curiosity and appreciation of nature. This can lead us to a conscious effort to preserve the natural world. We hope that this art exhibition, which will include paintings and ceramics, will express our appreciation of parks and public spaces and will cultivate an appreciation of these spaces in others.
About the Artists:
Rosemary Murray was born in Perth, Australia and grew up on Vancouver Island and now resides in Victoria, B.C. Through sketching, watercolours and handmade ceramics her intent is to represent the common place, creating art that captures a moment of beauty.
Barbara Lee was born in England, grew up in Northern Ontario, and now lives in Victoria, BC. Barbara has been commissioned to paint several portraits, including having the honour of painting the first female president of the Union Club of British Columbia.
Peggy Fletcher was born in Victoria and grew up on Vancouver Island. Peggy is inspired by Vancouver Island landscapes and scenes of island life and aspires to capture the light, colour and drama of our changing seasons through studio created oil paintings and plein air works of oil or acrylic on board.
