From March 16 to 22, residents will be able to pickup a free leak detection kit at various locations in the capital region, including at Saanich Municipal Hall (770 Vernon Avenue). Stop by the lobby during regular hours (8:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday) to get your kit!
This awareness week is designed to remind residents about the best practices for annually detecting and repairing leaks.
These small household checks and repairs can make a big difference in saving water and potentially lowering your water bill. For example, in one year, a leak of one drop per second can waste 10,000 litres of water - more than enough to supply all the water you need for cooking for one year!
Each kit includes everything you need to get started, including:
- toilet dye tabs for identifying silent leaks;
- a bag for checking your showerhead’s flow rate;
- an efficient faucet aerator; and
- informative handouts to guide you through the process.
Grab your complimentary kit next week and help contribute to a more sustainable future for our region.
