This session is presented by Neil Roberts, Manager of the BC SPCA Victoria Community Animal Centre. Neil has gained firsthand experience in emergency response and community preparedness over 30 years of leadership, including a decade in the veterinary field and over 3 years of service as a volunteer firefighter in Langford. Neil shares his home with two wonderful dogs, Hope, an 8-year old BC SPCA alumni and 3-year old Zoey. 

This presentation will explore how the BC SPCA supports animals and their families during emergencies, including emergency animal sheltering, response coordination, and resources available to individuals and communities before, during, and after a crisis. Participants will learn practical steps to prepare for pets in unexpected situations, such as creating emergency kits, developing evacuation plans, maintaining identification and medication records, and arranging for temporary care if they become unable to care for their animals.
