Description:

This is an Employees Only competition: You must be a current employee of the District of Saanich to be considered. 

As a Youth Leader II – Supervisor, you will provide leadership in the planning, supervision, and evaluation of recreation programs such as day camps, playground programs, and youth activities. This role is responsible for the overall operation of assigned programs, including staff training and supervision, program planning, scheduling, equipment and supply management, and responding to operational or emergency issues. The position works closely with Recreation Programmers to ensure program quality, positive participant experiences, and adherence to District policies and procedures.

Requirements include completion of Grade 12; enrollment in or completion of post-secondary education in recreation, leisure studies, or a related field; experience in the administration of recreational programs; a minimum of six months’ experience working with children or youth in a recreation-based setting; demonstrated program planning experience; and supervisory experience in a related field. Emergency First Aid and CPR-C are required (Standard First Aid for licensed and summer day camps). Employment is subject to the provision of a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) dated within the last six months, and a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including daytime, after school, evenings, and weekends; hours and schedules are subject to change based on program needs.
