Description:

The Engineering Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Survey Technician to join our Water Resources Division. The Water Resources Division provides professional services for the management of the municipal sanitary sewer, potable water and storm drainage systems. We also provide GIS and Surveying services for the greater Department.

The Survey Technician performs various engineering surveys, assist the Surveyor as required in completion of municipal survey projects and oversee their own projects as assigned. The Survey Technician, using Robotic Total Stations and GNSS instrumentation, completes engineering topographic surveys, records cadastral ties and underground utility connections; collects field data, processes and performs adjustments on raw survey data to produce finished CAD drawings; and carries out mathematical survey calculations. You possess a working knowledge of survey instrumentation. Specific knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble software products is an asset.  

Requirements include: A two-year diploma in Geomatics or Civil Technology, a minimum of three months of experience in municipal and/or construction surveying, and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The successful candidate must also meet the physical requirements of the role and be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted. Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.
