The Engineering Department is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable leader to join our Public Works team as a Supervisor in the Operational Technology section, focusing on Utilities Operations. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in wastewater systems and SCADA technology who is passionate about public service, safety, and optimizing municipal infrastructure operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day maintenance and emergency responses, supervising crews, overseeing technical operations, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards. 

As Supervisor, you will lead and support staff involved in wastewater collection systems, with duties including planning and allocating work, inspecting sites, managing equipment and material needs, and responding to public inquiries. You will ensure operations meet engineering and regulatory standards, assist in budget preparation, and maintain records and cost estimates. A key part of your role will be fostering a safe and efficient workplace, promoting teamwork, and supporting staff development. Your experience with electrical, pump mechanics, hydraulics, and SCADA system operation will be critical to supporting the delivery of high-quality services to our community. 

Requirements include: Grade 12 or equivalent, a two-year diploma in a related field, and at least five years of progressive experience in a related position, ideally within a municipal or public works setting. Experience in project management including planning, budgeting, cost estimating and scheduling. A minimum of one year of supervisory experience is required. Level III EOCP Certification in Wastewater Collection Systems or demonstrated equivalent knowledge through a combination of acquired related experience and education. Sanitary Sewers: - Extensive experience and completion of courses/training related to pump mechanics, hydraulics, wastewater collection system maintenance and SCADA system operation and maintenance. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence is also required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
