The Engineering Department is seeking enthusiastic Student Survey Technicians to assist in a variety of surveying and geomatics duties including survey fi eld work, engineering calculations and CAD drawing preparation. The successful candidate will use AutoCAD software to produce civil engineering drawings and a combination of robotic total stations and GNSS hardware and software to collect survey data. This position will be primarily focused on collecting survey data to fill information gaps on our stormwater infrastructure. This critical information is needed to advance Integrated Stormwater Management Plans and implement strategies under our Climate Action Plan. Other related duties may also be assigned.
Requirements include completion of one year post-secondary education; current enrolment in a full time post-secondary education program; valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence; physically fit to perform field duties; and one month of related work experience. Preference will be given to those enrolled in a Geomatics or Engineering Program at a University or Technical Institution. Enrolment in a full time post-secondary education program is mandatory. Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge, experience or interests related to stormwater/watershed management, sustainability and/or climate adaptation. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidates will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30p.m. (40 hours per week).
As a component of the selection process, testing will also be conducted.
