Description:

The District of Saanich is one of the four core municipalities within the Capital Regional District. The community is home to 118,000 citizens who live within 12 distinct neighbourhoods that are urban, suburban, and rural in nature. Saanich is known for its progressive initiatives in the areas of Housing, Environment and Sustainability, and Community Planning.

Within Community Planning, the District is seeking a qualified Planning Analyst to join our award-winning Housing team. This position has a critical technical and professional planning role within the Housing Division.

The Planning Analyst – Housing will be called upon to undertake a wide range of work including housing research and analysis, policy development, data/GIS analysis, project management, report writing, community engagement, and presentation material development. Upcoming projects include complete communities planning and family-friendly housing policy.

The successful candidate will be a professional who is self-motivated, collaborative, and creative/innovative with a focus on customer service. The desired skill set will include a solid knowledge of planning principles, excellent research and analysis skills, proficiency with GIS and graphic programs, and effective written and verbal communication skills. The individual will be team focused, working with a diverse group of professionals to implement our Official Community Plan.

Requirements include a master’s degree in planning or a related discipline such as geography, architecture, or landscape architecture; two years of planning experience, preferably in a municipal planning context; experience with GIS and design programs, such as Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted. We thank all applicants for applying.
