We are currently seeking up to 4 Parks Workers II’s to join our Parks team. This position performs a wide range of manual, technical, and operational tasks in areas such as protection of ecosystems and native species, invasive species management, development and maintenance of terrestrial and aquatic restoration sites, operational support for Parks’ Pulling Together volunteer program, and tree planting, watering and care. Duties may include planting, pruning, irrigation, trail building, landscape construction, infrastructure repairs, integrated pest management, and ecological restoration. The role may also involve providing direction to other staff, assisting with layout of work based on plans or schematics, and performing equipment maintenance and record keeping. The successful candidate will bring leadership and teamwork aptitude, hands-on skills, attention to safety, and a strong work ethic to a physically demanding, outdoor environment. 

Requirements include completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, one year of experience relevant to the section applied for, and a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence. Candidates must also have completed three or more accredited courses related to the area of assignment—such as horticulture, arboriculture, turf maintenance, natural resource management, or landscape construction—and is required to hold a valid BC Pesticide Applicator Certificate, in either the Landscape category or the Industrial Vegetation and Noxious Weed category. A satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) may also be required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

The successful candidates will work Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. depending on operational needs. Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted. Testing will be conducted.
