Description:

Please note: This position is being reposted and reclassified from Instructor II to Instructor I. If you previously applied, we encourage you to reapply as the qualifications and scope have been updated to reflect the Instructor I classification.

The District of Saanich's Parks, Recreation and Community Services department is seeking a team player to help drive our mission of Healthy Nature, Healthy People, and Healthy Community, while supporting our vision: a Saanich where everyone belongs.

You’ll work within a team where service excellence, learning and knowledge sharing, and feedback and accountability are highly valued, and where communication, trust, respect, and positivity form the foundation for everything we do.

G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre is hiring Instructors I to lead Jump Rope Basics classes for children and youth at Colquitz Middle School. These active programs promote physical literacy and coordination through skill development, games, and fitness activities. The Instructor I delivers pre-designed lesson content, fosters a supportive environment where participants are encouraged to try new movements, and ensures safe supervision and equipment setup.

Requirements include completion of Grade 10; a minimum of three months experience working with children in recreational or instructional settings; Emergency First Aid and CPR-C; and a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance. Experience with jump rope, physical literacy, or movement-based programming is an asset.

The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including daytime, after school, evenings, and weekends; hours and schedules are subject to change based on program needs. These programs are delivered at Colquitz Middle School and coordinated through G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre. As a component of the selection process, testing may be conducted. While we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.
