Description:

The Engineering Department is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Engineering Technician IV to join the Transportation and Development Services Division. This position performs a variety of technical work involving both field and office assignments related to transportation systems, land development, and associated civil engineering design. Key responsibilities include reviewing subdivision and development applications with respect to site servicing, scoping and managing transportation-related capital projects from concept through construction, preparing conceptual and detailed design drawings, and coordinating with consultants, contractors, internal departments, and the public. The successful candidate will also respond to public inquiries, provide technical support to internal construction crews, oversee consultant teams, and may supervise junior staff on specific projects. This role requires a strong technical foundation, excellent project management abilities, and effective communication skills to contribute to the development of safe, efficient, and inclusive transportation infrastructure in Saanich. 

Requirements include a two-year diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution; a minimum of five years of directly related experience; eligibility for registration as an AScT with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC; a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License; and a personal vehicle available for use as required. Proficiency with computer-based engineering applications, including AutoCAD, is essential. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week).
