The Transportation and Development Services Division is currently seeking a qualified and motivated professional for the permanent full-time position of Engineering Supervisor – Transportation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated technical team while contributing to a variety of transportation planning, operational, and infrastructure initiatives that directly support community mobility and safety.
The Engineering Supervisor provides technical leadership and oversight of staff within the transportation work group, reviews development applications and technical documents, responds to inquiries from the public and external stakeholders, conducts Synchro modelling and signal timing updates, and prepares reports for the Administrative Traffic Committee. The ideal candidate will have a passion for transportation, a solid understanding of Saanich’s current transportation plans and policies, strong customer service and communication skills, and a proven ability to manage staff and complex technical projects in a municipal setting.
Requirements include registration as an Applied Science Technologist with ASTTBC or a professional designation with APEGBC; a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology; and eight years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, including supervisory experience. Additional qualifications such as PMP certification or training in asset management, traffic signal timing, multi-modal transportation design, and proficiency with engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD, GIS, Synchro) are considered assets. A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week).
