Description:

The Saanich Police Department is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to join our team as a Digital Evidence Technician. This permanent full-time position plays a critical role in the collection, processing, organization, and preservation of digital media evidence and operational records. Working under the supervision of a Sergeant or Inspector, this position ensures adherence to strict protocols and legislation in handling sensitive and confidential digital material.

The Digital Evidence Technician is responsible for the intake and management of evidence such as interviews, photographs, CCTV footage, and voice logger recordings. The successful candidate must be able to work extended hours during major incidents, appear in court as required, and maintain a high standard of confidentiality and accuracy in all aspects of their work. The position requires familiarity with digital media systems, including software and digital docks/gates.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed Grade 12 and one year of post-secondary education in a related field, along with a minimum of two years of administrative experience. Preference will be given to those with experience in a police environment. Proficiency in MS Office, and the ability to obtain and maintain an enhanced reliability security clearance are also required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo all necessary background checks, and will work a schedule Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
