Saanich Public Works is seeking temporary part-time Compost Attendants to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the compost drop-off site. The Compost Attendant provides a professional level of customer service; operates a backhoe to maintain the site; coordinates the hauling of full compost bins; upholds the Municipal Safety Policy, promotes, monitors and ensures the public complies with WorkSafe BC regulations within the drop off site; monitors vehicles for contractors/commercial loads; performs sweeping, clean up and traffic control as required and maintains garbage carts including assembly/washing/organization.

Requirements include: Grade 11 or equivalent; basic record keeping skills; three months experience in dealing with the public; backhoe certification or experience; valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence; annual renewal of Driver’s Abstract.  Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate(s) will work Saturdays from 8:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.
