Description:

The District of Saanich is one of the four core municipalities within the Capital Regional District. The community is home to 114,000 citizens and is comprised of urban, suburban and rural areas, and 12 diverse neighborhoods. Saanich is known for its progressive initiatives in the areas of Environmental Protection, Climate Change, and Community Planning.

The Bylaw And Licensing Services Division is looking for an experienced Bylaw Officer to investigate, report, and resolve parking, street, and boulevard use violations within the District. This role involves conducting customer-centric, compliance-oriented patrols—by vehicle or on foot—to enforce the District’s Streets and Traffic Bylaw, Boulevard Regulation Bylaw, Parks Management and Control Bylaw, and other applicable regulations. The ideal candidate for this challenging position will demonstrate strong observational and communication skills, and the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. Attention to detail, along with proficiency in word processing and database applications, is equally important.

Requirements include completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, at least one year of experience in enforcement or regulatory work, and familiarity with office practices and procedures. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and a Police Information Check (PIC) dated within the past six months are also required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs. This may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime, and is therefore subject to change. As part of the selection process, testing will be conducted in addition to the interview. We thank all applicants for their interest; only those under consideration will be contacted.
